BOTOX for MEN and WOMEN

BOTOX® is the commercial tradename for Botulinum Toxin Type A. Botox® is a toxin produced by a bacteria called botulinum. Botox® will dramatically improve (and often eliminate) horizontal forehead creases, scowl lines between your eyebrows, crow's feet, and vertical wrinkles of your upper lip.
When injected into muscles, Botulinum Toxin has a local effect. It blocks transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibres around the injection site to cause weakness of the nearby muscle. Dynamic wrinkles, such as crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles, are due to repetitive facial expression. Weakening the muscles responsible for these facial expressions can dramatically improve these wrinkles. With Botox®, these muscles can be weakened without detracting from your facial expressiveness.
Who can have Botox® treatment?
Your doctor will decide if you can have cosmetic treatment with botox. Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you have any disorders that affect your nerves and muscles, if you are breastfeeding, or if you are planning to become pregnant soon.
The Botox injection procedure
Botox® can be injected by your cosmetition specialist in the office. You may experience brief mild discomfort as you are being injected. Prior to injection, your doctor will determine where to administer the injections by examining your ability to move certain muscles in your brow area. Following injection, recovery is immediate: you may place make-up and return to work immediately. A few experience mild bruising that improves within a few days. You will begin to see improvement in your wrinkles within 24 hours and continue to see improvement for 5 days. The entire botox injection procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and does not require anaesthesia. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief.
How often can Botox injections be given?
You can receive botox injections every 4-6 months. With repeated treatments, thinning of the muscles occurs, which produces longer lasting results.
